NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett surprised a Queens high school class Monday with a special discussion and performance.
Deb Gordon’s guest was Rachel Chazin Halperin, Executive Director of Domestic Violence programs at HELP USA, which was founded by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 1986.
Singer Tony Bennett was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the first annual Amy Winehouse Foundation Inspiration Awards and Gala, which took place at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Thursday (March 21).
Who would have guessed that Tony Bennett asking Lady Gaga to duet with him on “The Lady Is A Tramp” would lead to a lasting friendship. Earlier this week, the two performed the classic, which was featured on Bennett’s 2011 album, Duets II, together at an inaugural ball in Washington, D.C. for Obama’s campaign staffers.
The two friends plan to record as soon as possible.
