In a stacked category that included fun. and Frank Ocean, it was Gotye who took home one of the GRAMMYs’ biggest awards, Record of the Year, for “Somebody That I Used To Know.” Earlier in the evening, he won awards for Best Alternative Album for Making Mirrors and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Kimbra.
In 2011, few had any idea who Gotye was, but thanks to one unbelievably catchy song (and its equally impressive video) he became someone we couldn’t get enough of in 2012.
‘Dig Your Own Hole’ follows a propeller-driven steam train driven by a mysterious green-cigarette-smoking man. The dream-like ride begins as soon as the train leaves the station.
Gotye’s taken dozens of YouTube covers to make an entirely new song.
