Is Selena Gomez Going Through Her ‘Eccentric Phase?’

When “It Ain’t Me” dropped, it caught me off guard… and blew me away. I was pleasantly surprised. Selena Gomez Goes Retro On “Bad Liar”: “We sampled one of the greatest bands of all time”

I know what Selena Gomez haters will say. She has access to the best writers and producers that money can buy, she SHOULD be turning out hit after hit. But there’s more to it than that. Even if you’re not writing your own lyrics, it’s STILL not easy crafting your sound… selecting the right lyrics to sing, and the right beat to sing over. I think for the first time ever, we’re getting close to being able to say, “That sounds like a Selena Gomez song”… something that up until this point, you couldn’t do.

Vanity Fair recently referred to Selena Gomez’s new body of work as her ‘eccentric phase.’ I hope it isn’t a phase though. I hope it’s like I said above… it’s Selena finally knowing who she wants to be as an artist, and the sound she wants to deliver to the world.
