Deb Gordon’s guest was Emmett Findley, Communications Manager at God’s Love We Deliver which since 1985, has strived to improve the health and well being of those with serious illnesses that prevents them from cooking for themselves, by preparing and delivering meals to them in their homes.
In addition to providing free high quality “medically tailored” nutritious meals, God’s Love also provides illness-specific nutrition education and counseling by registered dieticians.
“We say that nutrition is our signature difference… the nutrition aspect of our meal program really sets us apart from other food programs in the city,” said Findley.
Spotlighted “Midsummer Night Drinks” – the organization’s annual Hamptons fundraiser, which will be held on June 18th at the home of Ophelia and Bill Rudin & Alex Papachristidis and Scott Nelson.
“It’s going to be a really beautiful night,” said Findley. “We’re really fortunate to have wonderful friends who open their home to us and invite our friends and their friends, to come and learn about God’s Love and celebrate God’s Love and all that we’re able to do for our fellow New Yorkers.”
Also discussed were other ways that the organization raises funds throughout the year including the annual Race to Deliver 5K run/walk.
“We rely on the support of incredible people who give their time and their energy but also their donations…one $10 donation funds one nutritious meal for someone too sick to shop or cook,” said Findley.
“If you think about that, the cost of 2 coffees can help support a neighbor who needs a nutritious meal and that is just really a profound thing, that we can make that difference so quickly and so easily.”
God’s Love We Deliver is headquartered in SoHo at the corner of Spring Street and 6th Ave., and is always looking for volunteers to foster their mission.
“This year, we’re cooking and delivering more than 6000 meals each weekday to people who are living with life altering illness, and we’re only able to do that with our incredible supporters and our volunteers….and our entire community.” said Findley
