By Amanda Wicks

David Bowie‘s Blackstar will be the focus of an upcoming Instagram series. The photography platform has been slowly curating original content, and will premiere UNBOUND: A ★ InstaMiniSeries on February 25th. Episodes will air Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on @instaminiseries.

Starring Rookie‘s Tavi Gevinson and Patricia Clarkson, the series will visually interpret Bowie’s final album over the course of 16 episodes. The series “takes its audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork. The series is propelled by a focus on this visual interpretation of the ★ album as opposed to a literal, linear narrative,” according to the press release.

Bowie gave InstaMiniSeries’ creators and producers access to his album before it was released on January 8. InstaMiniSeries Founder and Executive Producer Nikki Borges said, “We are grateful to have the opportunity to participate with the chameleonic rock icon and honored to be entrusted with interpreting his art.”

UNBOUND‘s writer and producer Carolynn Cecilia said, “David Bowie was a trailblazer, not just in the world of music, but in the art of storytelling.” What exactly the InstaMiniSeries story will tell remains to be seen, but it promises to evoke a mood reflective of the album as a whole.

UNBOUND: A ★ InstaMiniSeries premieres on February 25th at 8pm EST.

Watch the preview below:

"UNBOUND: A ★ InstaMiniSeries” In the Fall of 2015, David Bowie gave us unique pre-release access to the music from ★ (pronounced ‘Blackstar’), his 28th studio album, allowing us to create our own visual interpretations of his songs, with no limits or preconditions on his part. Completed in December 2015, UNBOUND: A★InstaMiniSeries takes the audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork. Each episode of the series is sure to capture the imaginations of all who experience it and will undoubtedly lead to endless speculation and discussion of meaning, metaphor and intention. We are honored to have had this opportunity and hope you'll join our 16 episode series, premiering February 25th. New episode every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
