Zedd on How He Met Selena Gomez

By Philip Cosores

There’s that scene in Forrest Gump where Gump is going to meet JFK and drinks all those Dr. Peppers and tells the President he has to go pee. Well, a sort of real-life version of this occurred involving Zedd and resulted in him meeting not the President, but new main squeeze, Selena Gomez.

As told to Radio.com station 97.1 AMP Radio in Los Angeles (via Billboard), Zedd noted that the story was rom-com material, beginning on a day off. “I decided to go buy stuff for my house because I just moved,” Zedd recalled, “so I have an empty house, and I had to pee. I had my engineer with me, so I was like, ‘I hope they have a bathroom.’ He was like, ‘Just go to the studio over there,’ which was across the street from my studio.

“So I walk in, and John, the head of our label, who had just signed Selena, was there… He was like, ‘Have you ever met Selena?’ That was literally the next thing he said… So he introduced me to her, and was like, ‘Hey, she’s cool, maybe we should make a song together.’ And then like a week later, we start working on a song. All because I had to pee.”

The word for this is serendipity. Check out the full interview on Radio.com.
