In the midst of a huge milestone in her career, she’s on track to break the album sales record previously held by Miss Britney Spears for “Oops… I Did It Again,” after selling over ONE MILLION copies of her new album “1989” in the first week of its release, Taylor Swift is dominating music charts and album sales.
Last week, on Halloween, Taylor paid tribute to her Jimmy Fallon “Ew!” character Natalie by wearing a Pegacorn (Pegasus + Unicorn) costume during her visit here at Fresh 102.7!
(Hey! That’s Taylor in our elevator!)
After everyone calmed down about her amazing outfit, she sat down with Kim and Cane to tell us all about her most recent accomplishments, including her life-changing experience moving to the Big Apple.
“It changed every aspect of the way I look at the world,” she told Kim and Cane. “It changed the way I dress, my group of friends, it changed my outlook on life. And I’ve been living a little more boldly since New York became a huge part of my life.”
So, there’s no denying that the city became T.Swift’s main inspiration behind the track “Welcome to New York.” And it’s because of that song, Swift was given the title of New York’s Global Welcome Ambassador.
Now to clarify things, this isn’t a government position! She, too, was surprised by the whole thing and the meaning behind it.
“I think what they [the tourism board] were trying to express to people was that, even if you weren’t born here and you come here and you’re new to town, you’re still welcome,” she says.
Unfortunately for Taylor, no crown, sash, or scepter was given at the announcement of her position.
