Queen Elizabeth II Doesn’t Lay Claim To The Iron Throne
Power does not interest Queen Elizabeth II. Or maybe she knows once you become ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, your life expectancy drops exponentially.
On a trip to Northern Ireland today, Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to one of the many set from HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. The show is known for its huge budget, spending millions on the locations shot across the globe. Many of the interior scenes are shot at the Paint Hall studio in Belfast, home to sets like the throne room.
Queen Elizabeth II’s reign over England began in 1952 and far exceeds any of the kings who have sat on the Iron Throne. Probably a smart move to merely look at the seat, rather than sit on it like most visitors to Belfast’s Titanic Studios do.
During her visit, the Queen met with cast members Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Rose Leslie, and Conleth Hill. And while she didn’t sit on the Iron Throne, she did get a mini one to take home.
