Deb Gordon’s guest was Ann Desmond, a former IT professional and yoga aficionado who co-founded Bent On Learning along with fellow yoga devotees, Jennifer Ford and Courtney McDowell shortly after the events surrounding 9 11. Bent On Learning is a nonprofit organization that is committed to teaching yoga to children in New York City Public Schools as a way to directly promote health conscious, learning ready students.

Ms. Desmond provided details about the way their programs promote health consciousness in the schools, the impact yoga has had on the tens of thousands of students Bent On Learning has served over 13+ years, and how they continually fulfill their mission to help the students become more focused, happier and healthier in learning and in life.

Spotlighted Bent On Learning’s 5th Annual Inspire! Gala on January 29th at Prince George’s Ballroom co-hosted by yoga and wellness expert Hilaria Baldwin, and actress Alysia Reiner. The event will honor Dr. Frank Lipman for his dedication to the health and wellness of children and his endorsement of yoga as a tool for education. Past honorees include Gwyneth Paltrow, Russell Simmons and designer Donna Karan, who along with other well known supporters, will also be in attendance to help create awareness about Bent On Learning’s progressive and innovative school programs.
