During the GRAMMY Awards this Sunday (Jan. 26), Hunter Hayes has chosen not to revisit his recent hit “I Want Crazy” (which is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance), but instead to debut a brand-new song, “Invisible.”
As Hayes told CBS This Morning during an interview today (Jan. 24), the song is very personal for him. As a kid, he was very focused on music from an early age, which often left him, as the song title suggests, ‘invisible’ to others around him.
“That was my heart and soul. That was my comfort zone,” he said of music, which he began playing when he was only a few years old. “I was a total geek. I was a total nerd. I still am and I’m proud of that, but it took me awhile to realize it’s okay to be proud of that.”
It certainly is. Hayes is among the most celebrated young artists in country music these days, having earned three No. 1 hits, sung to increasingly larger crowds on tour and even (during last year’s ACM Awards) performed on stage alongside Stevie Wonder.
