Interspersed into James Blunt’s performance at City Winery on September 17th were questions from fans in attendance, asked by one half of Fresh 102.7’s morning show, Kim Berk. One inquired about Blunt’s latest music video for “Bonfire Heart,” shot with the beautiful countryside of Wyoming and Idaho as its backdrop. Riding a motorcycle along the way, Blunt met people on the road to take part in the video.
“We met all these people along the way, it was an amazing experience,” says Blunt. “All really genuine, wonderful people who just joined in the video… that’s what the song is about, exactly that; it’s about meeting people and human connection.”
Perhaps the most touching human connection was made when the shoot was coming to a close. Blunt and the crew which accumulated during the journey met out in front of a car park bar, where a wedding reception was being held. When the bride and groom stepped outside to see who he was and what the commotion was about, they were met with an unexpected wedding gift.
“Well, I said ‘I’m this guy.’ I pulled out a guitar and played them ‘You’re Beautiful’ and [they] said, ‘S**T, you’re that guy who plays that song!'” Soon after the entire reception made their way outside and the newlyweds had their first dance to Blunt’s “Bonfire Heart,” bringing the video shoot to a close while helping begin a marriage.

“It stopped being my music video and and became their wedding video,” says Blunt.
