Without A Little Help, Dave Matthews Would Have Missed Concert
Emily Kraus and her boyfriend might have thought they were two Billies tripping on something when, on their way to a concert, they saw the man they were en route to see, stopped on the side of the road.
En route (behind schedule, even) to the Dave Matthews Band concert in Hershey, Pa., on Saturday (July 13), the fans spotted Matthews across the road with a bicycle, apparently stranded.
“So, we saw him on the other side of the road and we pulled my car in here,” Kraus told local CBS affiliate WHP-TV. “And he picks up his bike and throws it up here.”
Matthews was out for a pre-show bike ride when his ride “broke down.” Without a cell phone, he was stuck a little ways outside the city, a drive of about seven minutes in all.
After dealing with his saviors’ bike rack, which according to Kraus was apparently a bit befuddling to Matthews, the trio headed toward the concert, which was held at Hersheypark Stadium, near the grounds of the headquarters of the Hershey Company.

Kraus and her boyfriend were able to get Matthews to his show on time, and the 46-year-old singer, ever grateful, offered dinner to his saviors and a chance to go backstage at the show, as well as front row seats. He signed their tickets, offering thanks for the ride.
“I woke up this morning, and I rolled over and I said, ‘Okay, yeah, that really happened yesterday!’” Kraus said, laughing. “It was surreal; we couldn’t believe it.”
