Phoenix has released the video for ‘Trying To Be Cool’ – the second single off Bankrupt!

The video for the follow-up to ‘Entertainment’ is full of very bizarre non-sequiturs. The camera follows the band around a film set that includes a baboon, cannon, and dancing girls in bikinis. We see vocalist Thomas Mars choosing from assorted mustaches, playing ping pong against himself and beating a child at chess while the rest of band plays through confetti, bubbles and more.

The French foursome enlisted the assistance of director Canada, who’s previous clients include Two Door Cinema Club, Justice, Scissor Sisters, and an eclectic mix of controversial television ads. But this was to be no normal video shoot with the band merely standing around playing their instruments. Essentials: Phoenix Experiment Their Way To The Top

Today (June 2) through 11:00 a.m. EDT July 4 the song is available as a free download by clicking the down arrow on the Soundcloud link below.

Bankrupt! is out now on Glassnote and the band will be all over the U.S. on tour including stops at Chicago’s Lollapalooza and San Francisco’s Outside Lands Fest.
