Mariah Carey Set To Perform For FREE In Central Park For Sandy Relief
The pop diva is teaming up with Major League Baseball and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra to show off her killer vocals in the name of Sandy relief on July 13th. Tickets will be available online on Wednesday, June 26th beginning at 10AM. If you plan to be there, you’ve got to act fast. The concert will be held on Central Park’s Great Lawn, which is able to hold ONLY about 60,000 glittery fans.
The Philharmonic is slotted to perform two sets of iconic New York songs, including baseball-themed music, like Randy Newman’s Suite from The Natural and the world premiere of Mark Isham’s suite from “42.”
Carey’s set will include a taste of her new album and a medley of her best pop hits from her expansive career.
Baseball fans will be treated to a reading of the classic poem “Casey at the Bat” by Joe Torre, former Yankees manager.
The MLB will be donating $1 million to help facilitate Sandy rebuilding projects and has tons of events set to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief on July 13th, including an All-Star Game 5K and a Fun Run in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
