Adele may still be working on her EGOT (she’s still missing the E and the T: Emmy and Tony) but she was recently bestowed with one of the highest honors from the Queen of England.
In honor of her 87th birthday, Queen Elizabeth II named Adele–listed here as Miss Adele Laurie Blue ADKINS—as one of the members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for her “services to music.” She was honored alongside over 1,000 recipients. The list of honorees included actor Rowan Atkinson (AKA Mr. Bean), singer PJ Harvey and a local beekeeper.
Bob Kerslake, head of Britain’s civil service, said those honored will receive their awards from the Queen at Buckingham Palace in ceremonies over the coming months, according to the BBC.
Adele also had the highest selling album of 2012 with 21. It was the second year in a row that the Brit earned the honor, making it the first time since SoundScan started in 1991 that that has happened.
