The latest promotional salvo in advance of the new Queens of the Stone Age album involves an eerie new website that will call entered telephone numbers with creepy messages.

Logging onto the site launched by the band finds a pair of glowing eyes peering out from the darkness above a field to enter a telephone number. Once entered, a gnarled hand is depicted dialing an old rotary phone, which results in a phone call.

“Is there anybody out there, or am I just walking alone,” begins an eerie and vaguely British-accented voice on the other end of the line, reciting a passage that could possibly be lyrics to one of the new songs to be featured on the new Queens of the Stone Age album, …Like Clockwork, which is scheduled for release on June 4. Smartphones also receive a text message that links to special pre-order page for the album.

The band is currently touring South America, debuting new song “My God is the Sun” at Lollapalooza Brazil this past March, and more recently being joined onstage by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder during their set at Lollapalooza Chile, who sang background vocals and played cowbell during QOTSA’s song “Little Sister.”  The group’s next American appearance will be at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 2.
