Clive Davis is speaking out about Kelly Clarkson’s claims that his book includes false details.
The music mogul issued a statement yesterday (February 19) on the site Twitlonger responding to Kelly Clarkson’s comments earlier in the day over a chapter he wrote about her in his memoir, The Soundtrack To My Life.
Though Davis, who is often credited with guiding the American Idol’s career, calls her a “tremendous vocal talent,” he is sticking by the comments he made in his book.
“In the book, I provide an in-depth look at our years together during which we shared major multi-platinum success, as well as a few creative differences,” Davis wrote. “I am truly very sorry that she has decided to take issue with what I know to be an accurate depiction of our time together.”
Clarkson disagrees with some of the music mogul’s recollections telling fans she had “to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans.”
In her post on the site, WhoSay she explains that she did not cry when they discussed “Since U Been Gone,” but she did shed some tears when she played “Because Of You” for him explaining that he called her a “s***** writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me.”
Clarkson also refuted his claims that her 2007 album, My December, was unsuccessful because she was a co-writer on the album, instead explaining that the album went on to go platinum and the one single the label released was a chart-topping hit.
“My December was an album I needed to make for myself for many reasons and the fact that I was so completely disregarded and disrespected was so disheartening,” she wrote. “There really aren’t words to explain…”
In his statement, Davis said that every story in the book was checked over by “five independent individuals who were present on a daily basis throughout it all.” Adding that he stands by the chapter as it is written in his book.
Davis ended his note with a kind message to Clarkson: “I wish, and will always wish, Kelly’s talent and her career to soar to ever new heights.”
