From flashing her nipple onstage to using Nazi imagery, Madonna’s tour antics seemed to serve her well last year.
The Material Girl had the Top Grossing World Tour of 2012, according to Pollstar, raking in $296.1 million dollars.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band came in at number two reeling in a little over $210 million, while Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, Coldplay and Lady Gaga rounded out the rest of the top 5.
Cirque du Soleil’s tribute to the King of Pop “Michael Jackson: The Immortal” also managed to sneak into the top ten with $140.2 million.
But what will be the number one tour of 2013?
Taylor Swift announced her Red tour, which will include a total of 58 shows across 45 cities, 29 states, and three Canadian provinces. It kicks off March 13, 2013 in Omaha, Nebraska and runs through September.
Gaga has a chance to steal the crown from Madonna when she hits the road once again on January 14. This time around Mother Monster will offer something a little extra for her fans in the way of free counseling that will include “access to professional private or group chats about mental health, depression, bullying, school & friends.”
Matchbox Twenty is hitting the road from January to the end of March with stops in Las Vegas, Orlando, FL, Atlantic City, NJ and Austin, TX.
American Idol winner Phillip Phillips also won’t be home for a while when he teams up with MB20 for 21-dates starting on January 29 in Catoosa, Oklahoma.
Fleetwood Mac will reunite for the first time in three years, kicking things off on April 4 in Columbus, Ohio sans Christine McVie.
We’re also waiting for fan favorites like Cher and Josh Groban, who’s album All That Echoes is out February 5, to announce their upcoming tour dates.
