Sorry to be the one to tell you if you haven’t already heard; we’re all going to die tomorrow.
We could have been prepared if we listened to an ancient civilization who couldn’t invent the wheel but somehow figured out that carving still beating hearts out of the masses would bring about a bountiful harvest. But alas, we didn’t listen. We kept on party rockin’ and now it’s countdown to D-Day.
We know, as music lovers just like yourselves, you’ll be humming something while the sky falls around you…
We asked the 92.3 NOW staff: What is the ONE song – ONE SONG – that you would choose as your soundtrack to the apocalypse? You have only ONE song to listen to while you face the divine rapture (apparently it happens faster than you’d expect) – what would it be and WHY?
Here’s what everyone had to say:
the Jim & Kim Morning Show
“The Lumineers’ ‘Ho Hey’ because it sounds like a good old Irish drinking song and if I’m going out… it’s going to be an Irish goodbye. I’ve certainly pulled those once or twice.”

“You know if the world ends…I’m going to be seriously annoyed! I got things to do!!! So I’m going to pretend everything is just great and go along on my merry way with all my plans and appointments and goals and dreams. But IF the Mayans calculated their calendars correctly and the North and South poles DO switch positions it’s always good to have a song as a soundtrack on the way out. I need to go out with my sense of twisted humor, laughing while totally horrified. I think I would end up singing ‘Isn’t It Ironic’ by Alanis Morrisette. The whole song is a parody of how life throws you curve balls… or in this case flaming, giant, destructive meteors.”

“It’s tough to pick just 1 song to accompany the end of the world but I’m going to have to go with Soundgarden ‘My Wave’ at full blast on every speaker in the house as I um… as I relive the magical nineties and how much better things were back then. Well, goodbye world!”

“I’m totally smitten with Ed Sheeran right now so I gotta go with him. He wrote a beautiful song called, ‘Autumn Leaves’ which is all about leaving this world – so that would be my pick. I love the lyrics and I would hope his voice singing those words would give me some peace during my impending doom. I doubt it though.”
