Liza Minnelli is taking over the small screen this spring to play the role she was truly born to play.
The legend will appear on the upcoming season of Smash playing none other than herself.
Her episode, airing in Spring 2013, will feature an original song written by the show’s composer and lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the two behind Broadway’s Hairspray.
She will join previously announced guest star Jennifer Hudson, who will play Veronica Moore, a Tony Award-winner who reached her Broadway dream, but also paid a price for it.
Liza is certainly no stranger to television. She previously won an Emmy for her special Liza With a ‘Z’ and frequently guest starred on Arrested Development.
The second season of Smash returns to NBC on Tuesday, February 5.
