‘The Voice’ Recap: Live Playoffs End
Thursday night finished the live playoff eliminations between each team on The Voice. The top two singers from all four teams were voted for by America while each judge had one last save to advance to Monday’s show. An emotional night for the judges and contestants alike, Maroon 5 and former winner of The Voice Jermaine Paul eased tensions when each debuted their new singles with a live performance.
“Today we’re all in a cringe worthy moment,” Christina Aguilera said at the start of the show. “I’m really not looking forward to two of my people going home.” As for CeeLo Green, he’s all about what his singers bring to the stage. “I have to consider what chemistry you have but the end of the day America makes the decision,” he said.
Adam Levine agreed. “There’s no failure at this point. You’re one of the last five people on this stage. I’m just happy to have a wonderful team. Everyone’s succeeded at this point,” he said. Meanwhile, Blake Shelton had the champion vibe. “I think my team really sets the bar this season,” he said.
After Adam and Blake’s team came out singing Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” the tallies for which contestants received the most votes and were saved by America were revealed.
Winners: Amanda Brown and Bryan Keith will be two of the Top 12 and move on to represent Team Adam.
Adam can only pick one more singer to advance to the Top 12 and he has a difficult decision to make. “I love you guys. This is not fun and it’s a horrible thing to do. There’s only five of you left. No one is better than the other,” he said.
Saved: At the end of the day he had a choice to make and he chose Melanie Martinez.
Going Home: Loren Allred and Joselyn Rivera
Winners: Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope
“There’s nothing more exciting than when America makes its decision. Each one of them has given 100% and everything that I asked them to do. I think any one of the three of ya’ll could go on to win this thing. I’m just left to where my heart is and I gotta go with my heart and emotion I gotta pick . . .
Saved: Michaela Page
Going home: Liz Davis, Julio Cesar Castillo
After an energetic performance by Team CeeLo and Team Christina of Train’s “Drive By” it was time to find out who is staying and who is going home.
Winners: Dez Duron and Sylvia Yacoub
“I want to say in this experience, please don’t let anyone’s opinion ever define who you are. You are so special and talented. This is just the beginning for you,” Christina told her team. Her save went to someone who she said hasn’t had the opportunity to show America who she really is.
Saved: Adriana Louise
Going home: De’Borah, Devyn DeLoera
Winners: Trevin Hunte and Nicholas David
“I love you all. If one of us wins, all of us wins. I love you guys, I truly do. I have to pick one and I’m going to pick on the grounds of most improved I’ve gotta go with . . .
Saved: Cody Belew
Sent Home: Diego Val, Mackenzie Bourg
Stay tuned for Monday when all 12 perform and we’re one step closer to finding The Voice.
