U.K. singer Ellie Goulding has taken a page right out of Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl’s book of unusual recording spots (their latest album was recorded in a garage and Dave wants to record their next effort in space!) – but has put her own twist on it.
Instead of recording her new album, Halcyon, in a regular, old recording studio, the album which is scheduled to drop on October 8th, was put to tape in an old, converted barn.
“There were livestock running around, and it was in the middle of nowhere, however it’s a good place to write an album” Ellie told Fresh 102.7’s Dylan.
Goulding’s upcoming tour was recently announced via her personal Twitter account, and we’re excited to relay that she’ll be performing an intimate show on October 11th at the Santos Party House in New York City.
“It’s small but we just wanted to do something small, we will do somewhere bigger next year” promised Goulding.
You may be aware of this little fact, you may not, but Ellie’s hit single “Lights” is approximately three years old. Needless to say, Goulding is ready for the next set of challenges on the road ahead.
“Im SO ready,” she said with a big smile on her face.
But even though she may be getting a little sick of her own song, there’s still some life left in the track on this side of the pond. In fact, singer Debbie Harry has even added the song to the Blondie set list on their most recent tour.
“I didn’t believe it at first because she’s a legend, it’s pretty awesome, and pretty unreal” says Ellie.
Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon will hit shelves on October 8th. Check out the video for her new single “Anything Could Happen” below.
