Colbie Caillat To Release “Beach-y” Christmas Album
Colbie Caillat’s music is synonymous with the beach so when she decided to record a Christmas album it only made sense that the California beauty wrote songs while at the beach.
Titled Christmas In the Sand, Colbie’s warm weather inspired LP is produced by her dad, Grammy Award winning producer Ken Caillat, who has produced her last two albums. While talking with CBS Local, Colbie filled us in on how the album idea came about.
“I wanted a mix of a beach-y [songs],” Colbie said. “I was in Hawaii a few months ago and I was like, ‘I think people in Hawaii need to have some Christmas songs where they’re not all about the snow and big strings and orchestra.’”
Colbie wrote many of the tracks with past collaborators and friends Jason Reeves and Kara DioGuardi.
“[We] wrote songs about Christmas in the sand and seeing Santa Claus on a surf board and him handing you a present, these really cute songs,” she said.

So what songs can we expect from her release?
“We’re just doing 10 standards,” she said. “‘Santa Baby,’ ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside,’ ‘The Christmas Song,’ ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas.’ A bunch of them.”
Expect a few memorable duets too. “Merry Christmas Baby” will feature country singer Brad Paisley on vocals and guitar while Colbie’s tour mate and songwriting partner Gavin DeGraw will lend a hand on “Baby It’s Cold Outside.”
Though Colbie hasn’t visited Hawaii over the holidays, she described what she thinks it’s like during Christmas.
“I haven’t been to Hawaii for Christmas but I can only imagine that everyone decorates their palm trees in their front yard,” she said. “It’s gotta be a different experience.”
Christmas In the Sand will be released October 23.
