Thursday night’s show continued with much anticipation and hopeful judges. Although a few of the remaining contestants stood out, it may not have been for the right reasons. There were some strange characters including a Jerdashian (“Jersey Shore meets Kardashians”) and an overly zealous Britney fan.
Aside from the montage of bad apples, that did not receive introductions and minimal air time, there were some pint-sized contenders that are sure to be around for the long haul.
The judges have a long search ahead of them with such limited talent. Here are Thursday night’s contestants!
Contestant: Johnny Maxwell
Sings: Johnny Maxwell “All These People”
This is a 16-year-old Cali cutie with lots of ambition. He managed to pull through the performance despite his nerves and shaky vocals. Unexpectedly, he began rapping. His witty rhymes about making his dreams possible while shrugging off negative people really got the crowd going.
Judge’s Take: “There is no question that you are a better rapper than singer, but what you have is that ambition in your eyes. This is your time,” Simon said.
Verdict: Yes all around.
Contestant: Lexa Berman
Sings: Alex Clare “Too Close”
This overly confident 22-year-old from Florida has been performing for 19 years, but still needs to work on her act. Her vocals did not match up to her level of confidence. Sadly, the audience booed and she stopped singing mid song. Proving that this “Jersey Shore meets Kardashians” girl – as Simon referred to her as – is not up to par.
Judge’s Take: “I like you, but most people won’t like you,” said Simon. “A lot of junk in that trunk,” he said as she walked away.

Verdict: NO 3 to 1.
Contestant: Jason Brock
Sings: Billy Joel “New York State of Mind”
This 34-year-old Adam Lambert doppelganger blew away the judges as well as the audience. One second we were watching the X Factor and the next we were at Jason Brock’s concert. He is definitely a contestant to look out for.
Judge’s Take:“Your voice is a song’s best friend,” LA Reid said.
Verdict: Unanimous yes.
Contestant: Patrick Ford
Sings: Britney Spears “Circus”
This 20-year-old cashier from New Hampshire is a Britney fanatic…stalker. His tempo and tone were nonexistent. He was literally screaming the lyrics. It was a injustice to his idol’s song. Poor Britney did not even know how to act in this uncomfortable situation. Her facial expressions said it all.
Judge’s Take: “Its like you got into an argument with Britney Spears, got drunk and screamed the song at her,” SImon said.
Verdict: NOs all across the board.
Contestant: Carly Rose Sonenclar
Sings: Nina Simon “Feeling Good”
This 13-year-old from Westchester is a little girl with a powerful voice that sounds well beyond her years. She baffled everyone with her incredibly soulful vocals. Move over Carly Rae, Carly Rose just sang her heart out.
Judge’s Take:“You are a little diva. You were unbelievable. All of us are completely in love with you,” Britney Spears said.
Miss THANG! The young ones are my favorite – their innocent sparkle just gets me. Did she kill it or did she kill it?
