This week Michelle Obama showed once again why she deserves the title of most stylish First Lady, rocking dresses made by Tracy Reese, Thom Browne and Laura Smalls.
Below we break down our favorite looks from the Democratic National Convention.

On the first day of the DNC, Mrs. Obama blew the crowd away with her heartfelt speech that focused on why her husband deserves a second term. It didn’t hurt that she looked phenomenal in her Tracy Reese cocktail dress and her rhubarb J. Crew suede pumps.
Reese, a mother of three, debuted her line in 2009 after working as an outerwear designer for London Fog. Known for her stately lines and modest hems, Reese designs couldn’t be more perfect for the First Lady
The sleek brocaded dress in pink and gray silk was custom-made for Michelle, but will be available in stores soon.
“I was moved to tears by Mrs. Obama’s amazing speech. I knew she was speaking from her heart and she touched mine,” Reese told the Wall Street Journal. “As always I couldn’t be more proud to have the opportunity to dress her.”

The following night, Michelle wore a gray and black-laced dress from Thom Browne.
Browne, an American designer, has been designing since 2003, but only introduced his women’s line last year.
The First Lady recently invited Browne to the White House in honor of his work. There he explained why she was such a good ambassador for fashion.
“It is so nice that she sees her role and importance and actually helps American designers, especially young designers,” he told Women’s Wear Daily. “She is so conscious about using where she is in a really good way, in a very helpful way, by the clothing she wears and supporting younger and newer designers — I’m not a younger designer but I am one of the newer designers — I think she is very generous in being very conscious in that way.”

Laura Smalls’ designs were so nice Mrs.Obama decided to wear them twice. Michelle wore a purple printed cocktail dress that hit right below the knee to introduce her husband before he accepted his party’s nomination for President.
Smalls, whose godmother was Billie Holiday, is known for her romantic style and old Hollywood sensibility, perfect for the wife of a President.
In 2009, when Smalls debuted her line, the Huffington Post even predicted that Mrs. Obama would take a liking to her designs. Seems like they knew something the rest of us, including Michelle, didn’t.
