LeAnn Rimes Enters 30-Day Treatment Facility
Country star LeAnn Rimes voluntarily entered a 30-day treatment center this past Wednesday (Aug. 29) to deal with anxiety and stress. While some may link the facility admission with weight loss, her representative has assured the public she’s there specifically to deal with stress.
“LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30 day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress,” her rep Marcel Pariseau said in a statement published today on People.com. Pariseau confirmed the accuracy of that statement to CBS Local.
Pariseau stressed that Rimes is not in treatment for any substance abuse or eating disorders. “While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.” The People article was also re-posted on LeAnn’s website.
The admission happened just one day after the singer celebrated her 30th birthday. “This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be,” she said in a statement published by People. “All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much. I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”
Rimes is preparing for a tour this fall to support her upcoming album release Spitfire, which is expected to hit stores early next year (her website states that the first single from the album, “What Have I Done,” will be released to radio and iTunes on December 10).
Fans of the country singer who have tickets to one of her upcoming shows won’t need refunds, however. “The facility has granted permission to keep her weekend tour obligations, as LeAnn doesn’t want to disappoint her fans,” Pariseau noted. “She’ll report back after each weekend.”
