FITP 2012 is this Saturday, August 18th @ Eisenhower Park, Long Island featuring American Idol Kris Allen along with Daniel Powter & Ryan Star. Details HERE.

Summer Streets!

Saturday is the annual Summer Streets festival in Manhattan! Seven miles of New York City’s streets will be opened to play, run, walk and bike.

“King Kong” @ Coney Island Film Society

The Coney Island Film Society has a screening on Saturday of the original “King Kong.” The Society screens scary movies throughout the summer on Saturday nights. Free popcorn is included in the ticket price. The movies start at 8:30 p.m. with an 8:15 p.m. pre-show of classic drive-in trailers, and old commercials.

Fireworks @ Midland Beach, Staten Island

You’ve got fireworks this Saturday night at 9PM at Staten Island’s Midland Beach Sea Turtle Circle.

Miss Republica Dominicana US 2012

Miss Republica Dominicana US 2012 pageant is Saturday night at Symphony Space - the most important beauty event of the Dominican community in the U.S – where young hopefuls from all over the country compete for the crown where the winner will go on to compete for the Miss Dominican Republic Universe title. That’s at 8PM.

Improv Everywhere’s Black Tie Beach Party 2012

Improv Everywhere is hosting their 2012 Black Tie Beach Party on Saturday… and you can join. It’s exactly what you think it is: they spend a day at the beach wearing black tie attire. Everything else will be normal.

Air Force Week

Air Force Week begins at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum starting Sunday. Intrepid’s pier will be lined with displays and interactives from the U.S. Air Force. From earth-shaking flyovers to meeting Airmen from your hometown, Air Force week offers something for everybody. Come out and show your support for the fine men and women of the Air Force. It runs through Aug. 21.

Harlem Week

Harlem Week is this weekend. Although this Harlem celebration runs for the entire month, this weekend focuses on family fun. On Saturday, enjoy Children’s Day with live performances, games, arts and crafts, live music and dance, healthy eating and living exhibits, and sports and recreation clinics. Sunday is Harlem Day featuring the Upper Manhattan Auto Show, the National Historic Black Colleges Fair, a tennis competition, a fashion show and other activities. That’s from 10-4pm on west 135th street.

Free Movies @ Habana Outpost

“St. Elmo’s Fire” screens for free at sundown on Sunday in Brooklyn at the Habana Outpost.

And In Sports…

The Yankees have home games this weekend at Yankee Stadium vs. the Red Sox at 4:05 p.m on Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. The New York Giants play against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday for a pre-season game.
