When he hasn’t been calling Madonna any four-letter-word he can think of, Sir Elton John has been busy filing libel suits against a London newspaper recently.

Sir Elton claims the Times of London has connected him to tax evasion and implied he sought evasion advice from his ex-accountant, Patrick McKenna. The founder and then-CEO of media investment group Ingenious Media, McKenna was accused of telling his clients how to take advantage of film-related tax breaks.
TheWrap.com reported that Elton’s lawyers asked the paper to print a correction after the story ran to make it clear he was not getting advice on tax evasion.
The correction read: “We have been asked to make clear that the film finance partnerships arranged by Ingenious Media, whose CEO is Patrick McKenna, do not offer schemes of this type and they have not been involved in moving money offshore to avoid tax,”
But Elton’s lawyer, William McCormick, wasn’t satisfied by the statement. He said they are suing the Times of London on the basis that his client’s reputation was damaged.
“The allegations are particularly damaging to the claimant’s reputation in the sphere of charity fundraising,” McCormick said in a statement.
