Kelly Clarkson Is Taking Requests – 5 Songs She Should Cover
On Kelly Clarkson’s summer tour with The Fray, the singer has been taking requests from fans on which cover songs she should perform. Recently she even did a stripped down version of Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake.”
Fans can make suggestions for their upcoming concert by tweeting the singer (@Kelly_Clarkson) their name, song title and the hashtag #KCrequests.
In the meantime, CBS Local has a few suggestions of our own:
The Fray “How To Save a Life”
Yes, it’s an obvious choice, but really what fan attending this show wouldn’t want to hear this one done twice? The fist-pumping anthem off the band’s 2006 debut will definitely get the audience singing right along. Maybe she can even turn this one into a duet with a little help from the band’s lead singer, Isaac Slade, who is a big fan of his Ms. Clarkson.
Carrie Underwood “Before He Cheats”
Ellie Goulding “Lights”
The singer has talked about her love for the English singer and how she just listens to her 2010 album on repeat, so wouldn’t it be nice to hear Kelly’s take on it? We’d like to see her slow this dance song down and show off her falsetto on the catchy chorus.
Bonnie Raitt “Thing Called Love”
Kelly is a big fan of Bonnie Raitt’s. “She’s so underappreciated,” she told Oprah. “She has this whole soulful side, and this whole rocker side, and this dirty, country, love-me side.” The Idol can show off all these sides with Bonnie’s bluesy song.
One Direction “What Makes You Beautiful”
Kelly wrote the One Direction song “Tell Me a Lie,” for the boy band’s debut album Up All Night, so why doesn’t the American Idol show her love by covering one of their songs? Kelly could put a feminine spin on the summer jam and dedicate it to all those boys out there who need a little confidence boost.
Clarkson will be making her away around the United States until September 15. Check here to see when the singer will be in your town.
