Beer & Song Pairings: Go Local, NYC!
Beer is the refreshment of summer, the beverage of choice. It can make any hot day instantly better. It’s much more cost efficient than, say, a bottle of wine, and if you go beyond your local supermarket buys, there are plenty of craft beers to try.
Make it fun! Try out some local brews and get your palate stimulated with a Lager, Light Pilsner, or Hard Cider, while you crank up some music and get your rest and relaxation on!
We took the liberty of putting together a perfect playlist for your drink of choice.
Brooklyn Summer Ale and Jay-Z
Since Jay-Z is known as the king of Brooklyn, he makes the perfect to pair with a Brooklyn Summer Ale. The ale is made by Brooklyn Brewery and is, according to their website, a ‘rendition of the “Light Dinner Ales” brewed in England throughout the 1800′s right up until the 1940′s. It’s a great beer for keeping things light for summer. We suggest putting on “Change Clothes” from Jay’s Black Album to get your sip on!
Blue Point Toasted Lager and Mariah Carey
When you think of summer, you think of the beach. For most New Yorkers, that means a trip to Long Island. While at the beach, keep it local and try a Blue Point Toasted Lager. A perfectly refreshing beer made on River Avenue in Patchogue. Just like the lager, Mariah Carey is a long island native and is always a great soundtrack for summertime. Picture this: Laying out at the beach, sipping on an ice cold Lager while Mariah Carey’s ‘Honey’ from the Butterfly album floats through your speakers. Perfection!
Kelso and FUN.
Kelso Pilsner is an amazingly fruity, mild beer, brewed in the alternative hipster scene of Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, so why not have a little Fun.? We recommend ‘Carry On’ from their album Some Nights.
Original Sin Cider and Katy Perry
Katy Perry is known for her luscious curves and scandalous outfits. I mean, someone who has whipped cream shooting out of her bra can’t be an innocent angel, right? Get your heart racing with an Original Sin Hard Apple Cider while bumpin’ ‘Teenage Dream’, and let the taste of the crisp, clean flow of natural flavors of the apple speak for itself.
Magic Hat Circus Boy, paired with Cee Lo Green
Between his sparkly outfits, wild wigs and crazy pets, Cee Lo Green is a walking, talking circus.
Tricky day at the office? Check out Magic Hat’s Vermont based beer, Circus Boy. This Hefeweizen beer made with pale wheat has a flavorful taste of nuttiness with a hint of lemon. Try pairing it with ‘Crazy’ from Cee Lo’s Gnarls Barkley days.
There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. A list of perfect pairings of beer and songs for the summer. You’re welcome.
