Deb Gordon’s guest was Jennifer McLean, Vice President of Community Impact at City Harvest, which is New York’s first food rescue organization and serves all 5 boroughs. The organization has grown and evolved to provide a myriad of programs and services to New Yorkers including educational workshops and a mobile green market that delivers fresh produce to lower income communities.
Spotlighted City Harvest’s “Feed the Kids” Campaign, their annual food drive that starts on Mother’s and goes through Father’s Day and raises money to help feed New York City children during the summer months. Ms. McLean also provided data regarding the many children in our area who currently live in poverty and are in need of emergency food, and the adverse effects it has on them including delayed development, anxiety and behavioral problems. Ms. McLean also discussed the importance of continued support from the community during the current economic times.
