Gavin DeGraw Talks To Jim & Kim About DWTS, HBO and “Sweeter”
Singer-songwriter and native New Yorker Gavin DeGraw is fresh off his commendable performance on Dancing With The Stars and is back in town. While in the big city he put away his dancing shoes and took some time to drop by the Fresh 102.7 studio to talk with Jim and Kim this morning.
Participating in the 14th season of Dancing With The Stars isn’t something DeGraw would have ever thought of doing, considering his stance on cutting a rug.
“I was always one of those guys, if I was out at a bar … I would think to myself, ‘Look how ridiculous they look,'” says DeGraw. Though he is now armed with some impressive dance moves, the dance floor still isn’t a place DeGraw is champing at the bit to get on. But his willingness to do so has changed to a certain degree.
“I don’t know if it will necessarily get me out there right away. Perhaps it will only require one or two less drinks.”
“There is not another tour I would rather be on than this one. Colbie Callet is amazing … I think she has great music. She has great taste,” says DeGraw, who is also excited to be joined on the road by Andy Grammer.
“I think he is amazing as well. I think he is a great showman. I love his songs.”
DeGraw’s latest single “Sweeter” was released this March but is also featured during HBO’s Summer 2012 promo. Coincidentally, while writing “Sweeter” and the much of the album with Ryan Tedder a year ago, DeGraw recalls how Tedder was inspired to decorate his new home after HBO’s hit show True Blood.
“He (Tedder) says, ‘Oh man, can I tell you where I got the idea? There is this great show on HBO,'” DeGraw tells Jim and Kim, referring to True Blood. “Oh man that show is so hot!”
