Drake Gets “Punk¹d,” Announces “OVO Fest” Lineup
As a rapper, Drake lingers between sensitive emo-rap and tough talking MC. But in the season premier of MTV’s Punk’d, Drake showed another side of Aubrey Graham–frightened and very uncomfortable.
The YMCMB superstar was led to believe that he was scheduled to meet Vice President Joe Biden. Instead, he faced a faux earthquake that sent shivers up his spine.
“We’re gonna shake things up for Drake a bit,” said host Ashton Kutcher said referring to a staged earthquake that took place in a parking garage. “I highly anticipate Drake urinating, he might scream a little bit.”
Kutcher wasn’t far off the mark. Drake appeared genuinely shook up. The actors who played Secret Service officers left him in a car that blocked a pregnant lady from passing. Then, to up the ante, a taser got involved and shocked the woman.
“Yo, that s***’s no joke,” Drake said as the Two and a Half Men star suddenly appeared wearing his trademark trucker hat. “So we don’t get to meet the vice president? I called my mom and everything!”

Aside from being shaken to the core, Drake recently announced the lineup for his third-annual OVO Fest (October’s Very Own). The show, which will take place on August 5 at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto, will feature performances from Drake as well as 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky and critically acclaimed alternative R&B act The Weeknd.
In a statement Drake, who is currently on his 27-city Club Paradise tour, said the gig is a true homecoming.
“Bringing together the 3rd Annual OVO Fest is such a milestone for me,” he said. “A lot has happened over the last three years-a journey that I’m so grateful for-but it’s always coming home and performing for my hometown that means the most. This year, we’re going to bring it just like we do every year-with high energy and music at its best.”
