Producer Craig’s Cell Phone Panic Attack
I can tell you firsthand: losing your cell phone, especially in this day and age, is one of the worst feelings in the world… and you only have yourself to blame. That’s exactly what happened to me this morning on the way to the Jim & Kim Morning Show.
I’m not a big believer in “happy endings” but this story just might have one….
This morning on the way to work, I took a cab. I zoned out in the back, as I frequently do, and came to when I got to work. I promptly paid my cabbie and headed into the station. On the elevator ride up, I realized that my cell phone was NOT with me. Panic immediately set in. I flew through the station, hoping that I had thrown it into my backpack. Was it in a random pocket, perhaps?
I remember losing my cell phone about 12 years ago and it was tragic. Back in those days, your cell phone numbers weren’t backed up and I lost everyone’s contact information and had to buy a new phone, etc…
Losing your phone in 2012 is ultimately even MORE tragic. Although all of my phone numbers and my calendars are backed up (hopefully), there’s much more personal information in a phone to lose. I have tons of apps (though, thankfully, none with banking information) and pics of my family and friends. I have links to important websites and the idea that someone would have access to all of that makes me feel horribly violated!
Jim and Kim questioned me about it in the midst of my panic:
Then, they decided to leave a threatening message on the phone for whomever took it:
But the happiest moment of the morning for me came when I was out of the room, actually. John called our hotline with some good news:
So, now all I have to do is go pick it up from him! Make sure you tune in at 7:10 tomorrow for another conversation with John!
