American Idol alum and one of Fresh 102.7′s favorite guests, Kris Allen, swung by the studio to talk with Jim and Kim about his new album Thank You Camellia. While he was here, Allen also gave some insight into the album’s first single “The Vision of Love” and just how important a person’s iPhone can be.
Kris Allen’s new album Thank You Camellia dropped May 22nd and has been greeted by stellar reviews. The quality of music could correlate to the great environment Allen put himself in while working on the album; his friends’ couch. As a thank you, Allen decided to name the album after the street the people who allowed him to crash for free resided on.
“I was thinking, ‘What is the constant (while) making this album?’ And it was them. They gave so much to me and I felt like I should do something for them.”
Allen chose “The Vision of Love” as the first single from the album and released the track on March 26th. It was one of the very first songs written for the album and he is more than pleased that it stuck around to make it onto Thank You Camellia.

“It’s kind of a serious song that I think has a big meaning,” says Kris. I feel like it’s a song people can latch onto and it really means something to them.”
Being a songwriter, Allen can find inspiration at any time and at any place. When one of his journals isn’t readily available, he relies on a crucial piece of technology.
“I love the iPhone because I can use voice memos and I just jot down ideas all the time.”
Allen’s occupation forces him to be on the road for a good portion of the year. When you’re jet-setting across the country, packing a nice home made lunch or stopping off at your favorite restaurant usually isn’t an option. Luckily Allen has his iPhone handy and can use his favorite app, GateGuru.
“When you’re traveling in an airport it shows you what food places are in what terminal in different airports.”
Of course Allen’s success comes with the help of his supporting cast; his wife, friends, family and of course the Little Pawns.
“They are my street team,” says Allen. “They are a big part of what I do and I love them so much.”
Kris Allen will be performing at Fresh 102.7′s Fresh In The Park on August 18th at the Harry Chapin Theater in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, Long Island. It’s a FREE show, so make sure you are there!
