Lady A Raises Over $250,000 For Henryville
It started as just a simple idea Lady Antebellum had while in the studio one day: let’s play a high school prom! But in the end, the idea helped raise $258,000 to help rebuild the small town of Henryville, Indiana.
Last night (May 16), Henryville High School’s prom was filled with glitz, glamour and a concert from Lady A. The school’s juniors and seniors were treated to a private acoustic show from the trio after being chosen as the winner of the band’s “Own The Prom Night” contest, which was held back in March.
The “Need You Now” singers chose Henryville for its “resilience and unity” following the tornados that destroyed their school and parts of the town in early March. But the band soon realized the contest would allow them to do so much more for all the residents and the idea of an additional charity concert was formed.
After last night’s prom performance, Lady A headed over to their Rebuilding Henryville concert in Lousiville, Kentucky and helped raise money for the town’s relief efforts. Between ticket sales, donations and a little help from Lipton Iced Tea, the charity event blew away their original donation goal of $50,000.
Throughout the day, Lady A tweeted updates from Henryville to let fans know what was happening.
Here they are visiting the tornado ravaged school, which is currently under construction with plans to reopen this fall.

In the end, the people of the town weren’t the only ones feeling thankful.
“We had no idea at the time [Rebuilding Henryville] would fill such a need,” Hillary said in a statement. “We are amazed by the support we’ve gotten from our fans, sponsors and the press. This is one of the proudest moments in our career!”
All proceeds from last night’s event will be distributed through the New Hope/Indiana Bankers Association for the Disaster Relief Fund.
