The Avengers came out in theaters at midnight but there were superfans that just couldn’t wait that long! AMC theatres around the country had a Marvel Movie Marathon showing five movies leading up to the big opening. Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Captain America 3D, Thor 3D and then the long-awaited Avengers in 3D starting at midnight.

Movie-goers sat down at 11am on Thursday and went straight through until 2:30 the next morning! That’s a lot of popcorn and a sore butt! And you will never guess how many fans were out at the AMC Empire in Times Square for the Marvel Movie Marathon…

More than 1,000 people came out for the marathon. The six movies were being shown in three separate theatres and the majority of the movie-goers were in their 30s. We didn’t see any teens or even many people in their 20s! So we chatted with people in line including several couples ready to spend a long day of movies together, a guy in his PJs, a man painted green from head to toe and a group of friends dressed like their favorite superheroes…
