Last night R&B crooner Brian McKnight stunned Twitter by revealing a new song on which he promises, in graphic language, to teach a woman everything she needs to know about her own body parts. As a result, he became a trending topic and found himself on the defense against an army of disturbed listeners.

The song, entitled “If You’re Ready to Learn,” showcases a traditional McKnight melody as he croons in usual emotive fashion. However, the lyrics represent a departure from the love songs he is known for penning.

“Let me show you how your p**** works,” he sings on the chorus, “Since you didn’t bring it to me first/ I have lots of things to show you, if you’re ready to learn/ Let me show you how your p**** works / I bet you didn’t know it could squirt…”

On the verse, he offers more of the same.

“Every time you give it up, you leave unsatisfied…They talk a real good game/ But they don’t know what a tongue is for/ They wine you and dine you/ You let them inside you/ And they leave you wanting more…”

On Monday (April 24) McKnight announced via Twitter that he was working on a song for his “adult” mixtape and that he would post a video to his Youtube page. In the video, he played portions of “If You’re Ready to Learn” and explained how he came up with the idea to record it.

“The other day on Twitter I had an idea about doing an adult mixtape and I asked everybody on my timeline, ‘What subject would you want me to tackle…’ Most people only want to hear me do one kind of song. Lots of conversations I’ve had with men and with women about other sexual subjects, I’d like to tackle.”

When the video went live, McKnight’s Twitter timeline was hit with a flurry of activity, some expressing disapointment, others appreciation. While McKnight has since taken down the video, he also took time to respond to many of his critics.

Insisting that he was not discouraged, McKnight announced a new plan. One that he apparently thinks will satisfy listeners on both sides.
