1 – Debbie Harry asked me to sing with her on her opening number ‘Dreaming’ at the Meadowlands, in the late 1980′s. I was to introduce the band and was chatting backstage with Debbie and Chris Stein before we were all to hit the stage.
I could not hear what they were asking me with the sold out crowed being so loud and was too embarrassed to ask for the umptienth time ‘Whaaat?’ So I went onstage not knowing their plan to have me sing the intro to ‘Dreaming’ with Debbie. Time came, I intro’d the band to that drum beat in the song. Debbie came onstage expecting me to sing with her, but I fled instead!
Later, backstage she asked me what happened. Ugh, more embarrassment but Debbie just laughed it off and thanked me from stage after a few numbers for being a good friend and longtime supporter of the band! Phew!
