Today is the first day of Hanukkah and to help celebrate, NYC’s resident musical Rabbi, Matisyahu, has released a new video for his song “Miracle” off of his latest EP of the same name.
It’s an uplifting pop gem arriving just in time for the holiday!
You should remember Matis from his 2004 reggae infused hit “King Without a Crown…”
Of the new track, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Matisyahu[/lastfm] says, “There are so many Christmas songs out there. I wanted to give the Jewish kids something to be proud of. We’ve got Adam Sandler’s song, which is hilarious, but I wanted to try to get across some of the depth and spirituality inherent in the holiday in a fun, celebratory song. My boy Kojak was in town so at the last minute we went into the studio in the spirit of miracles and underdogs and this is what we came up with. Happy Hannukah!”
Watch as a pre-shaven Matisyahu skates through some kind of morbid holiday dream with a Julius Caesar looking guy, a roman soldier and uh hockey players that are pseudo elves. Completely random which makes it very entertaining to watch.
Now is the perfect time to catch Matis live in NYC! He performed last night (Dec. 19th) at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. But don’t worry if you happened to miss it. He’s in town for a few more days!
Tue, Dec 20 | Music Hall of Williamsburg | Brooklyn, NY
Wed, Dec 21 | Music Hall of Williamsburg | Brooklyn, NY
Thu, Dec 22 | Webster Hall | New York, NY
