We’re not really sure why, but it is what it is…
Aging pop star, now film director, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Madonna[/lastfm] will be performing during the halftime ceremonies at the 2012 Super Bo… errr… BIG GAME, as we call it!
On Sunday night, the NFL confirmed what had been churning in the rumor mill for over two months: The Material Girl, Madonna, will headline the halftime show at the 2012 Super Bowl on February 5th AND will be working with French-Canadian circus troop Cirque du Soleil on a concept for the performance!
She’s expected to play a medley of her hits and is rumored to be unveiling a new single, “Give Me All Your Love,” a collaboration with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]M.I.A.[/lastfm], during the set… which, now that I think about it, could end up being REALLY freaking good!
Oddly enough, this will be Madonna’s first time performing at the big game, so I guess that’s the main reason it’s happening. She was scheduled to sing her cover of “American Pie” (‘Memba THAT?!) at the 2000 Super Bowl, but cancelled due to a conflict in her schedule.
The [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm] performed an awkward set at the 2011 Super Bowl… so you know, one from Madonna is the next logical step.
