This morning on the Jim and Kim Morning Show we will remember and honor those we lost on 9/11 and salute the first responders. If you are going to be at Penn Station, Grand Central or Port Authority – our Street Team will be handing out 3,000 flags to honor those who were lost on that day.

My cousin, Moira Smith, was one of the 23 police officers who were killed. And today we will remember her with a smile…

The thing I always remember about Moira was her smile… it lit up a room and she was ALWAYS smiling.

All of the police officers I have ever talked to always say the same thing… they would have partnered with Moira in an instant. The final picture we have of Moira is of her helping a bleeding man from the burning Twin Towers… it was in the Daily News…. and then she ran back in to rescue others when they collapsed.

Her daughter Patricia was only 2-years-old at the time and received the Medal of Honor for her mother…

And then on the 5-year anniversary she remembered her mother with a single rose…

And this morning her husband (also a former NYPD officer) my cousin Jimmy will help us remember Moira with a smile… sharing a story that celebrates the amazing woman she was and her smile that was contagious to anyone who knew her and even those who didn’t.
