From the “Who Saw This One Coming” Dept.: Illegal Substances NOT the Cause Of Amy Winehouse’s Death
In a surprising turn of events (what, it’s not like she was Mother Theresa?!), reports have come out today that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Amy Winehouse[/lastfm] had “no illegal substances” in her system when she passed away last month.
According to the Associated Press, a spokesperson for the Winehouse family said that toxicology also revealed “alcohol was present,” but that it “cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”
A statement released by spokesman Chris Goodman on the family’s behalf said “toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death.”
Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, has repeatedly stated that Amy had kicked her famous drug habit three years prior to her death but that she had continued to struggle with alcohol dependency.
The singer was found dead in her London apartment on July 23rd, 2011.
