Following a brutal attack in NYC this past weekend, local singer/songwriter [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Gavin Degraw[/lastfm] was released from the hospital in good spirits today.
Unfortunately, Gavin has canceled his upcoming appearances in order to get some recovery time and, we assume, to try to find out if anyone caught the license plate of the taxi cab that ended his night on a sour note.
On his Twitter page today, Gavin spoke out for the first time since the attack:
Hi my friends. Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys.—

Gavin has been on tour opening for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Maroon 5[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Train[/lastfm] and this morning a rep for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Maroon 5[/lastfm] told TMZ: “The band was horrified to hear what happened to Gavin and sends their best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.”
A rep for Gavin said: “Police are conducting an investigation of the attack. Gavin and his family appreciate everyone’s concern at this time. We have no information yet regarding his upcoming concert dates and promotion for his new album.”
Feel better Gavin!
