If Californians can have the Terminator govern them, New York should totally get a celebrity politician too! Alec Baldwin nominates himself…
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Baldwin made it clear that he plans on running for mayor of New York City. But he won’t be throwing his hat in just yet, he’ll miss out on the 2013 election because he wants to study up for the job.
Baldwin is currently discussing attending two top universities to obtain a master’s degree in in politics and government “to help me better understand what the fiscal imperatives of that job are,” he said. “What’s the reality of the city unions, of contracts, agreements, teachers, infrastructure, decentralizing, everything? And utilities, Con Ed, the M.T.A. — how does it all work?”
What inspired Baldwin to put his politics where his mouth is? Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Baldwin is irate about Mayor Bloomberg’s rewrites of New York’s mayoral term limits, noting “I don’t have anything against Bloomberg, but there are term limits. The whole point is, whether you liked him or didn’t like him, he’s got to go.”
Who better than Jack Donaghy to run this city?
I’m hoping Tina Fey comes along as deputy mayor.
