This has been quite the year for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Katy Perry[/lastfm]! Her sophomore album, Teenage Dream, has gone platinum, her California Dreams tour has been selling out everywhere, she’s happily married and she’s got her very own perfume.

Well things are about to get even sweeter for this California Girl…

Many of Katy Perry’s songs turn into earworms, but you just cannot stop listening to them! Her latest single that penetrates your radio multiple times within the hour, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” has just hit number one on the Billboard Pop Songs chart! This makes Katy’s Teenage Dream the FIRST album to spawn FIVE number one songs on that chart.

Watch Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) NOW:

“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” reaching the summit follows in the footsteps of previous singles “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg, the title track, “Firework,” and “E.T.,” featuring [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kanye West[/lastfm].

You really gotta give it to Katy. Her album came out this time LAST YEAR and it still has staying power! People are now wondering if there is gonna be a sixth single. I personally hope so.

The previous record holders on the Pop Chart were [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm]‘s The Fame and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Justin Timberlake[/lastfm]‘s FutureSex/LoveSounds, with each album having four number one pop hits.

While all of this is GREAT news, the thing that is on everyone’s mind is: Will she break Michael Jackson’s Hot 100 record?

The Hot 100 is released later today and if she hits number one, she will be the first female artist to have five number one hits from one album on that chart. The last album to do that was [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Michael Jackson[/lastfm]‘s Bad in 1987.
