My favorite time of the year is approaching. No, its not basketball season (though I love it). It’s the start to awards season!!!! As a big award show junkie, I was very excited to read the nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards!
The 64rd Primetime Emmy Award Nominees were announced yesterday morning. The ceremony will be hosted by your favorite cheer coach, Jane Lynch from the five-time nominated comedy series.
Quick Sidebar: WHERE WAS LEA MICHELE’S NOMINATION?! As an avid Gleek, I know this past season was more about Chris Colfer (which is great, he’s the man), but COME ON! Yes, we know Tina Fey is gonna win, but homegirl deserved some praise.
OK. Vent over.
“Glee” competes against “The Big Bang Theory,” “Modern Family,” ‘The Office,” “30 Rock,” and “Parks & Recreation” for Best Comedy Series. Fox earned 42 nominations. The hit show “Mad Men” received more nominations than any other series with a whopping 19 nominations. Betty White earned her 17th career nomination for her supporting role on TvOne’s “Hot In Cleveland.”
One other category that stuck out to me was in the nominations for Outstanding Reality Competition Show Host, or as nominated host from Dancing With The Stars, Tom Bergeron, calls it “The Jeff Probst” award as he has won it every year that the category has been in existence. This would equal 3. While you have regulars Bergeron, Probst, Phil Keoghan, and that dude who hosts American Idol, it, for me anyways, is SO EXCITING to see Miss Cat Deeley up for the award!!!
As someone who is OBSESSED with So You Think You Can Dance, it is about time! GO CAT!
The awards air on September 18th on FOX.
