Rebecca Black will release a new single called “My Moment” on Monday, July 18 at 8pm. She will also release a five-song EP in August.
The tween reached her peak last month when she was featured in [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Katy Perry[/lastfm]‘s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” video. To be honest, she rocked the robot dance during the dance sequence.
Still, I don’t know how much more of this girl I can take. The new song is (unsurprisingly) not written by Black, but by Brandon “Blue” Hamilton, who contributed to Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never: The Remixes.
And then there’s the new video. It supposedly features Black receiving an award from her junior high school, sauntering down the red carpet, and being famous in the broadest sense of the word. According to a statement, she wants to “tell the story of her sudden rise to fame… It’s a fairytale story, but it happened in real life.”
Ew. I feel like I’m going to vomit in a shoe.
I suppose you can’t argue with results. The video for “Friday” overtook [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Justin Bieber[/lastfm]‘s “Baby” to become the most played Youtube clip ever, with around 167 million views. But then she deleted the video from YouTube recently. So sad. Let’s watch “Last Friday Night” to console ourselves:
Rebecca Black’s new single being called “My Moment” is ironic, since I think her “moment” has passed. Regardless, I’m definitely watching the vid for some laughs. It’s gonna be great.
