The music of yesteryear has been completely lost and forgotten on today’s generation of manufactured pop fed teens.
Hannah Montana… [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Miley Cyrus[/lastfm], or whatever she is going by these days, covered [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Fleetwood Mac[/lastfm]‘s “Landslide” in concert the other night and the crowd’s response was… well, there wasn’t one.
Outside of the Tourette’s tween screams and standard ovation heard at the end of every song played during a live show, the crowd at Miley Cyrus’ concert was almost awkwardly quiet. Which is understandable. If it’s not on Disney, Teen Nick, or played during an episode of 16 and Pregnant, these little tikes won’t have a clue what it is.
The Miley fanatics likely went to Twitter and Facebook to “OMG” about how they got to listen to a new, never-before-heard Miley track while their parents stood in the back rows holding up lighters, praying [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stevie Nicks[/lastfm] would make an appearance on stage.
To be fair, this is a teen pop star looking to transition away from her cookie cutter image. She’s also covered “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by ’90s grunge pioneers, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nirvana[/lastfm]. Anyone who has ever worn a flannel shirt went into cardiogenic shock after hearing this.
Miley also appeared on Oprah‘s Celebration of Woman Who Rock and performed a rock ‘n’ roll medley which included “Bad Reputation,” “Cherry Bomb,” and “I Hate Myself for Loving You” with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Joan Jett[/lastfm].
At least she got permission from Joan on this one… we think.
