Adam Levine of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Maroon 5[/lastfm] almost started a war between fans on Twitter when he claimed to never have heard one of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adam Lambert’s[/lastfm] songs before. Thanks to Lambert’s diplomacy and graciousness in the situation, everything quickly calmed even though Levine didn’t back down.

Levine, also a judge and coach on the TV show The Voice, claimed a song performed by contestant “Nakia” was better than the original… though he had actually never heard the original.

The song happened to be Lambert’s hit “Whataya Want From Me,” which enraged his fans pretty much instantly.

Lambert quickly took notice though, and deployed a couple peacemaking tweets, first sticking up for Nakia:

Yeah Nakia! Saaaang boy!! Great performance. I think Adam might know who I am after this next album. Get ready for me Levine. Hahah—

Then he put any potential hostility to rest by showing plenty of respect for Levine.

But for the record, Im def a Maroon 5 fan. Fans: there is NO reason to be angry. Thanks for being protective but it's all good. —

Levine still wasn’t done. Though the situation had died down, he couldn’t let it go. He unleashed this tweet refusing to apologize to anyone.

I had honestly never heard that song before. I thought that @nakia made me like a song that would have otherwise fallen flat. I'm NOT sorry.—

Finally, Nakia stepped in and offered his attempt to defuse the trouble.

Ultimately, this could all be forgotten – it’s already been forgiven. It just shows how careful celebrities need to be on Twitter!

Both Adams had plenty of Voice fans seeing them in action on Twitter last night, and the second Levine said anything bad he got BOMBARDED with retaliations from fans! Would you let this one slide?
